CULTURE NEWS

  • Red River Radio will air a two-hour tribute special at 8 p.m. today honoring late blues musician Buddy Flett—an influential artist who helped form A-Train and The Bluebirds—and John Ellis will host the program celebrating his local impact.   KTBS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bossier Parish Community College partners with Amazon to launch a Career Choice program that trains Amazon hourly workers in industrial technology. The program, blending classroom instruction and lab work, readies participants for career growth in the region and will resume in the fall.  KSLA
  • Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. awarded a $1,000 scholarship to graduating C.E. Byrd senior Camryn Stewart at Government Plaza this morning — the award will help her pursue chemical engineering studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Caddo Parish Commission will vote on a resolution Thursday to encourage data center operators to adopt rainwater harvesting practices — a measure aimed at reducing local water system demands while also calling for improved treatment of wastewater from cooling systems. If approved, the resolution will serve as a formal recommendation to developers.  KTBS

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local experts advise Shreveport residents to prepare an emergency go-bag with at least 72 hours of supplies as hurricane season began yesterday. The checklist includes essentials like nonperishable food, water, and medications (plus a flashlight) to help families stay ready when storms hit.  Shreveport Times

  • Shreveport Biscuit Company at 3311 Line Ave (near Byrd High School) impressed a local reviewer with its fluffy biscuits with rich sausage gravy and a red river ham and cheese sandwich dressed with honey mustard sauce.   • LSWA Class 1A baseball and softball honored standout players from Logansport and Plain Dealing as they were named to the First Teams. Logansport’s top pitcher and Plain Dealing’s first All-State honoree in 27 years led their teams to notable wins over the season — a nod to their strong performance.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • LSUS baseball community gathered at Marilynn’s Place on Saturday afternoon to watch the premiere of 'Impossible Season,' a mini-documentary highlighting the undefeated 2025 NAIA World Series champion Pilots.
