- ➤ The Kroger Co’s Dallas Division is hosting a Peanut Butter Food Drive in Shreveport from May 28th to June 17th to help the local food bank boost its supplies—residents are encouraged to donate during the drive. KTBS
- ➤ Protesters rallied in Shreveport today against the planned closure of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, which will close July 1 as part of a diocese plan to merge it with other parishes—ending its food pantry and outreach services. The diocese said the changes will strengthen parish life amid a priest shortage and changing demographics while local supporters contend the church plays a vital role in the neighborhood. KTBS

- ➤ A Caddo Parish jury convicted Lloyd Cooks (21) of second-degree murder for shooting Jeremy Wyatt during a drug deal on June 25th and now he faces a mandatory life prison term at hard labor without the possibility of parole. KTBS

- ➤ Alan Clarke, director of the Metropolitan Planning Commission for 46 years, announced Tuesday he will retire Dec 31 — city council members and Mayor Tom Arceneaux honored his service with a standing ovation. KTAL
- ➤ Louisiana lawmakers passed two bills to toughen immigration enforcement by requiring state agencies to track legal status of public service users and by making it a crime to interfere with federal operations—measures aimed at strengthening the state’s role in immigration efforts. The bills will go to Governor Jeff Landry for his signature and are set to take effect on Aug. 1 if signed. Shreveport Times
- ➤ Shreveport police, Caddo Sheriff's deputies, and DeSoto deputies received first aid training for their K9 teams from nonprofit Anna 4 Paws today in Shreveport. Veterans taught trainees how to use items from first aid kits ($325 each) and items will be replaced free by a partner institution (Caddo Parish University Veterinary Hospital). KTAL
- ➤ The Shreveport City Court and City Marshal will host Amnesty Day on June 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1244 Texas Ave—this event lets eligible individuals have outstanding warrants recalled and receive new court dates—providing a chance to address court matters without the immediate risk of arrest.
