  • Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office said that the Smokin’ Guns and Family Fun Day was a huge success as community members enjoyed fishing, shooting competitions, kite flying and burgers on the grill. The office thanked all participants, volunteers and vendors including Teeco Safety + Black Bayou Armory + Patrick’s Gun Shop + Safari Land and is already looking forward to next year.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • A Caddo District Court judge sentenced Noel Deon Garner to life in prison—without probation, parole or sentence suspension—for fatally shooting Shreveporter Jermond Houston during a January 20, 2022, incident at a West 70th Street Shell Station.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • Calvary junior Kynzee Anderson earned the Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance Miss Softball award after posting a 24 to 1 record, a 1.26 ERA, 245 strikeouts, a .466 average, 14 home runs and 45 RBIs while leading her team to its fifth consecutive state title.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Shreveport native Sam Burns finished tied for seventh at the U.S. Open on Sunday after his drive landed in a waterlogged section on the 15th fairway and officials denied him relief, which led to a double bogey that cost him the lead. He earned $614,423 following a strong 65 at Oakmont Country Club and was commended for his calm handling of the ruling—analysts noted his composure under pressure.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • LSU baseball advanced in the College World Series after a 4-1 win over Arkansas and will face UCLA today at 6 p.m. on ESPN; a win will move the Tigers to Wednesday's game while a loss sends them to Tuesday's contest.  Shreveport Times
  • LSU will face UCLA tonight at 6 p.m. in Omaha during the College World Series winners bracket game, and head coach Jay Johnson said all pitchers except starter Kade Anderson are available after his seven innings in Saturday’s four to one win over Arkansas—pitching depth is expected to be crucial for the Tigers in the matchup.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
