ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to a major multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of I-220 and I-49 on July 3 at 5:26 p.m. amid rainy conditions when a blue Dodge Ram hydroplaned—crossed the median and struck a guardrail, leading to a fatal collision that left one driver dead and required further investigation.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Shreveport Police are investigating an alleged accidental shooting after a 6-year-old child suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Raising Cane's parking lot (1000 block of Kings Highway) when he accessed a concealed firearm while his father was briefly away, and the child is now in critical condition at LSU Health Shreveport.  Shreveport Times
  • Texas police arrested Javier Serrano (19) and two others on Friday during a targeted operation tied to a theft ring that hit the Shreveport Ulta store on Youree Drive, with Serrano now on ICE hold pending deportation while local officers have handled over 450 shoplifting cases this year.  KTBS
  • Officers responded to a shooting on July 5 at the 6200 block of Windermere Drive where a woman was declared dead and a man was hospitalized — detectives then arrested Richard Williams, who is charged with second degree homicide.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • On June 28th, Shreveport police arrested Anthony Edwards on a second-degree murder charge for the hit-and-run that killed 70-year-old Rosalind Jordan on Laurel Street—Edwards was known to the victim—and are investigating the incident further.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • A man wanted for allegedly stealing from an Ulta store was arrested in Austin on July 4+ Shreveport police said he may face extradition as ICE holds him for deportation in connection with a national retail theft ring that caused over $100,000 in losses.  KSLA
  • The Shreveport Police Department arrested 13 individuals for driving while intoxicated over the Independence Day holiday weekend — with arrests occurring from Thursday through Sunday — and Chief Wayne Smith said their work likely prevented serious injuries while enforcing DWI laws will continue.  KTBS
  • Louisiana State Police arrested Scarlett Jackson, 24, after she reportedly caused the death of Shreveport man Byron Smith, 41, when her car turned right from the left lane into a private driveway on Airline Drive in Bossier Parish at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday—she now faces charges of vehicular homicide, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to yield after a three-vehicle crash that left Smith thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • Motorists in Shreveport are advised by the Department of Transportation that the I-49 southbound off-ramp at the Southern Loop interchange will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through July 31 for construction of a new lane — future intermittent closures may occur as work progresses until fall.  KTBS
