- ➤ The Shreveport Volunteer Network is collecting supplies for Texas flood victims from the July 4 floods that claimed over 100 lives, and donations can be dropped off at its warehouse on 8924 Jewella Ave—key items are cleaning supplies, plastic totes, diapers, formula, and water. Volunteers are finalizing plans on Sunday and will use a high water vehicle to cross flooded areas and deliver supplies to Leander, Texas—local residents are also starting separate drives to aid first responders. - ➤ Qualifying ended today for several races in northwest Louisiana ahead of the Oct. 11 election; most positions were decided with a single candidate while some seats remain open due to low candidate turnout + local officials like Brent Moreland qualified for offices in Bossier and areas in Caddo. - ➤ Shreveport has launched a new website that lets residents track 163 capital projects—this dashboard shows details on project costs, timelines, and funding for police buildings, streets, sewers, and facilities. - ➤ Since July 5, four Shreveport Fire Department technicians have been in Kerrville, Texas to help with flood rescue efforts after the Fourth of July floods in the Texas Hill Country.
