  • Shreveport Green announced Community Market dates on July 16, July 23, and July 30 at the Shreveport Green Urban Farm located at 1034 Sprague Street. The market is open 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and will offer fresh summer produce like tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, herbs, and squash + support the local food system.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • A Shreveport teen is facing charges after allegedly stabbing her mother multiple times at around 9:30 a.m. on July 13 on Hollywood Avenue—she also took a child aged one before police returned the child safely and arrested her when they found the knife, police said.  KSLA
  • Shreveport police are searching for a man accused of attacking his girlfriend while she slept—she escaped to a relative’s home—and reports say he may have been on drugs with a child present during the incident.  KTAL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local filmmaker J.C. Doler held a red-carpet premiere for his supernatural thriller The Twin at The Strand in downtown Shreveport on July 10—showcasing a film made with a local cast and crew and inspired by Irish folklore. The film is now available for streaming and Doler emphasized the strong independent film community in Shreveport.  Shreveport Times

  • Mayor Tom Arceneaux announced that Shreveport’s Capital Projects Dashboard is live and lets residents track bond-funded infrastructure projects plus report concerns through Port City 311 with detailed info on project phases, costs and locations.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
