- ➤ Shreveport Police arrested 33-year-old Jacoby Page in Mississippi on suspicion of fatally stabbing his mother, Debbie Jones, 63, near the intersection of Youree Drive — East Kings Highway in the 3000 block of Dallas Street last week and he now faces a second-degree murder charge. - ➤ Four Shreveport firefighters spent most of the last week patrolling a Texas river searching for victims missing after the deadly July 4 floods. They are returning home today after completing their 14-day assignment early—storm developments in the Gulf prompted the change. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ Louisiana law now requires drivers to stay in the right lane on multi-lane highways unless passing or turning, and new penalties take effect Aug. 1—first offenses will be fined $150, second offenses $250 and third offenses $350 with possible jail time. Shreveport Times
- ➤ DOTD crews fixed a blow-up on I-220 westbound between Lakeshore Drive and Jefferson Paige Road on July 16 after extreme summer heat caused the concrete to buckle. Crews will repair a blow-up on I-49 southbound between LA 3132 and Bert Kouns Industrial Loop early next week with planned lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.
