- ➤ Shreveport firefighters rescued a resident from an early Saturday morning apartment fire at Normandy Village Apartments on the 3700 block of Fairfield Avenue, arriving at 5:04 a.m. and containing the blaze to one unit by 5:20 a.m.—the victim is in serious but stable condition at a local hospital while investigators probe the cause. - ➤ On July 19 at around 11:13 p.m., CPSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on the 1500 block of Greenwood-Mooringsport Road that killed one person — investigators are looking into the cause. KSLA

- ➤ Shreveport police arrested Valentine Carter Jr.—suspected of firearms trafficking—and his father for drug distribution during a coordinated search at a home on the 9500 block of Short Leaf Drive, seizing multiple firearms and narcotics. KTBS
- ➤ On July 19 in Shreveport, police tased and arrested a man who refused to leave his vehicle during a traffic stop at West 70th and Louise—police said the driver was cited for possessing marijuana. KTBS
- ➤ Shreveport police are investigating a shooting near Fulton Street and Fairy Avenue after officers were dispatched at 10:40 a.m. on July 20 — one person is reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries. KTAL
- ➤ Police arrested Detavious Heads after a late-night shooting in Shreveport that injured one person—officers booked him on charges including attempted second-degree murder, firearm possession, and an outstanding trespassing warrant. KTBS

- ➤ At a sold-out event at Live! Casino and Resort in Bossier City, the Krewe of Gemini crowned their new royalty with a Rio Royal Coronation theme. King Gemini XXXVII Sam Cooksey and Queen Gemini XXXVII Bernadette Bitting led a royal court that featured country singer Trini Triggs singing the national anthem and a school marching band escort—making it the highest-attended coronation in the Krewe's history. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ LDWF has scheduled a drawdown of Lake Bistineau to curb giant salvinia and improve fish habitat and water quality. The Department of Transportation and Development will open the water control structure around July 28—lowering the water by four to six inches per day until it is eight feet below pool stage, then closing it around November 15 for lake refilling and continued herbicide treatments.
