ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office identified 61-year-old Michael McMillon as the man found unresponsive in Shreveport’s Elks Lodge pool on Sunday, July 20—with family members present before 1:30 p.m. and taken to WK Pierremont Health Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m.—and his death is under investigation. - ➤ Shreveport police arrested a father and son after a raid on a west Shreveport home found several guns, 1,418 grams of marijuana and 50 grams of THC-infused edibles — the suspects now face charges for drug distribution, illegal weapon possession and additional firearm-related offenses. KTAL
- ➤ A man was arrested after leading Shreveport police on a chase on I-49 near Bert Kouns on July 21, when he flipped a vacant vehicle + then fled on foot before being taken into custody on Southern Avenue and treated for minor injuries. KSLA

- ➤ The Caddo Sheriff's Office is collecting school supplies for children at Sheriff's Safety Town in Shreveport until August 8 to help families manage back-to-school costs. - ➤ The City of Shreveport is closing the southbound lane of Knight Street from South Point Parkway to Flyer Drive today for a six-week construction project. Northbound traffic remains open while southbound drivers will detour via Flyer Drive—temporary driveway access will be provided. Shreveport Times

- ➤ Louisiana health officials report that some water systems in parishes like Ascension, Bossier, and Caldwell have tested positive for the brain-eating amoeba Naegleria fowleri — a germ that can cause fatal brain infections if water enters the nose, so residents are urged to use caution when swimming or using tap water.
