ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Bossier City man Michael Millon, 61, was found unresponsive in a pool at the Shreveport Elks Lodge on Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. and taken to Willis Knighton Pierremont where he was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m.—the death remains under investigation. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

- ➤ The Caddo Parish Grand Jury indicted Jermaine Curtis — 44 — on charges of second-degree murder and of being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the death of Fabian Jenkins — 43 was fatally shot on March 1 at a Hearne Avenue sandwich shop parking lot — and Curtis is held at the Caddo Correctional Center. - ➤ A Caddo Parish jury on Tuesday convicted Andrew Adaway, 37, of the death of Bobbie Young, 72, who was fatally beaten in a Shreveport jail in 2022 — Adaway is set to return to court on August 7 for sentencing. KTBS
- ➤ Two people were arrested by the Shreveport Police Department for alleged narcotics distribution and illegal gun possession during separate traffic stops on July 18 and July 20 as part of ongoing efforts to curb local drug activity and gun violence. KTAL
- ➤ Scammers are sending fake text messages that look like Coinbase alerts so they can trick people into giving out one-time codes—this smishing scam puts cryptocurrency at risk and has already cost victims millions. KTBS

- ➤ Shreveport city council members raised concerns about vacant, rundown buildings owned by out-of-state and foreign investors after a Sheraton Hotel project on East 70th Street faced a delay of six years. Council officials said they can only enforce property codes when taxes are paid—leaving stricter oversight uncertain. KTAL
- ➤ Congress approved a $1.1 billion spending cut from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting — a move that will reduce NPR and PBS funding across the nation.
