ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On July 28th, shortly after 3:30 p.m., Shreveport firefighters responded with 23 units to a fire on Dumbarton Drive near E Wilderness Way and Glenhaven Drive (officials are still gathering details). KSLA
- ➤ Caddo Sheriff's deputies said a man was fatally struck by a train early Monday on Norris Ferry Road near Overton Brooks Road—witnesses saw him on the tracks and investigators will release his name once next of kin are notified. KTAL
- ➤ A man died after being hit by a train just after 4 a.m. Monday on the railroad tracks at Norris Ferry Road in south Shreveport—deputies are investigating the incident while the road is closed between Overton Brooks and Wild Oak Drive. KTBS
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed early Sunday morning inside a smoke shop on North Market Street as a crowd gathered past closing time—Shreveport police are investigating the multiple shooter incident and urging anyone with information to come forward. KTBS
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ LSU Shreveport enrolled 8,006 students this summer, breaking its record for the fourth consecutive semester and increasing undergraduate enrollment by almost 18 percent to 866 students. The university is exceeding recruitment and application goals for Fall 2025—efforts that could soon top the record of 10,926 set in Spring 2025—according to officials. KTAL

- ➤ The Shreveport Fire Department earned Gold Status in the AHA’s Mission: Lifeline EMS program for its work in heart attack and stroke care—marking its second national honor for skilled, fast responses. Fire Chief Clarence Reese, Jr. said the department will keep training EMTs and working with local hospitals to provide quick, effective care. KTAL
