- ➤ The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office launched a Back-to-School Supply Drive to help local underprivileged children by gathering new supplies such as pens, notebooks, and backpacks at Sheriff’s Safety Town at 8910 Jewella Avenue until Aug. 8 — community donations are encouraged. - ➤ Yesterday, the City of Shreveport held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new police substation on Monkhouse Drive with Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Police Chief Wayne Smith. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana has reported 17 cases and four deaths from Vibrio vulnificus—a flesh-eating infection linked mostly to seawater exposure—as stated by the state Department of Health. This number far exceeds the normal yearly average of 13 cases and shows a significant rise in infections in 2025. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ The Ronald McDonald House in Shreveport is under construction and will offer free services to families with a critically ill child. The three-story, 20-bedroom facility is scheduled for completion in late September and will host a donor tour plus a grand opening with community tours on Oct. 1 — details have not yet been announced.
