- ➤ The Shreveport Police Department held a blood drive at its headquarters on the anniversary of Officer Thomas LaValley's death—he lost his life on August 5 while answering a domestic violence call in the Queensborough neighborhood a decade ago. - ➤ Stonewall man Lucas Logan, 31, was arrested early Saturday on Farmridge Road after deputies found a child unresponsive and is now facing 16 additional counts of producing pornography involving juveniles and molesting a juvenile—he was booked on charges of first-degree rape and attempted murder and awaits today’s hearing. - ➤ After board member Tanya Kintzel was arrested on drug charges last month, officers found dogs living in unsanitary conditions at her Kings Highway home and owner Tyrell Woolbert said he removed the animals—including one that died—as soon as he learned of her arrest—Caddo Parish Animal Services will now check all fosters to keep animals safe. - ➤ The Prize Foundation named 11 finalists for Music Prize, a contest that will take place on October 17 and 18 at Prize Fest where local bands Bond+ and Slive will perform for a $10,000 grand prize. - ➤ Caddo Parish Superintendent Keith Burton has proposed a new $1,000 stipend for all public schools employees and the School Board will vote on the plan on August 19. If approved, payments will be made on September 12 for employees active as of September 1 — the extra funds come from higher-than-expected local tax revenues. KTAL
