- ➤ Firefighter Aniyah Brown was named the 2025 Firefighter of the Year by the Kiwanis Club for her selflessness and dedication to Shreveport citizens—her honor recognizes local service in Louisiana, Mississippi, and western Tennessee. - ➤ Caiden Smith, 12, died at 9 p.m. Saturday inside a home on 500 W. 74th St after he accidentally discharged a gun found there, and Shreveport Police said there were no signs of foul play. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

- ➤ A Red River Parish sheriff's deputy, Asia Pikes, was arrested last week on a negligent homicide charge after a fatal car crash in February while she was responding to a house fire — the crash killed 70-year-old Ella Winn and she is now on paid administrative leave with a $25,000 bond. KTBS
- ➤ Police arrested 43-year-old Anthony Stout on Aug. 8 after K-9 Enzo found him hiding near a DOTD worksite on St. Vincent Avenue following his attempted burglary of construction equipment; officers report he fled in a truck loaded with stolen items and had outstanding warrants from Bossier Parish (he was wearing a headlamp and gloves). - ➤ Louisiana Film Prize 2025 announced 20 finalist films that will compete for a prize of up to $50,000, including a red carpet premiere and a one-week theatrical run that qualifies for Academy Award contention—audiences nationwide will also vote as the festival screens take place from October 15 to 19 in downtown Shreveport and Bossier City. - ➤ Louisiana sued LORA on Friday in the 19th Judicial District Court, saying the company leaders took money meant for plugging orphan wells for their own gain, including a $700,000 bridge loan to help a state official buy a house.
