  • Calumet, Inc. provided hot lunches for first responders from Bossier, Caddo, and Webster parishes on Tuesday (11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) during Feed the Badge. First responders picked up meals at several Calumet locations as the event marked the third year the company honored local service.  KTBS

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The major jewelry chain Claire's filed for bankruptcy on August 6th and may close all of its stores if it does not secure a buyer. The company is seeking bids to sell nearly 800 locations as going-out-of-business sales begin at its Shreveport—Mall St. Vincent.  Shreveport Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Shreveport police are seeking help to locate runaway juvenile Kamarious Rhodes, 15, who was last seen on August 2 at a family member's home in the 9100 block of Walker Road (he is described as a Black male with short black hair and stands about 5 feet, 5 inches tall) and urge anyone with information to contact them.  KTBS
  • Shreveport Police detectives investigated the Aug. 9 shooting death of 12-year-old Caiden Smith (who accidentally discharged an unsecured firearm inside a home on the 500 block of West 74th Street) and found no sign of foul play.  Shreveport Times
  • A Caddo Parish sheriff's deputy, Frank Launer III, 50, was arrested on Monday for allegedly filing an auto insurance claim after a crash even though he had no coverage—his arrest is part of an ongoing investigation by the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit.  KTBS
  • A 22-year-old Shreveport man named Lloyd Cooks was given a life sentence without parole and an extra ten-year term for breaking probation rules after a previous murder attempt—he was convicted in June for shooting Jeremy 'Ruru' Wyatt during a drug deal at a local gas station.  KTBS

  • The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is hosting a free church safety orientation today at 6 p.m. at University Church of Christ, 2045 E. 70th St. — the session will cover concealed carry laws and security plans for places of worship.  KTAL
