- ➤ Shreveport firefighter Aniyah Brown, a Caddo Magnet High School graduate and valedictorian of the 73rd Fire Basic Academy, has been named the Kiwanis Club 2025 Firefighter of the Year—an honor for her work in a region spanning Louisiana, Mississippi and western Tennessee. - ➤ The Centenary Muses Book Bazaar will take place on September 12 and 13 at the Centenary Fitness Center where over 50,000 items in 70 categories will be offered — with proceeds benefiting the school. Items will be half off after 1 p.m. on Saturday and donations are accepted year-round. KTAL

- ➤ Louisiana drivers now face fines and up to 30 days of jail time if they drive just 1 mph under the speed limit in the left lane—this law went into effect on Aug.1 and fines start at $150 for the first offense, increasing with repeat violations.
