- ➤ In March, new owner Matthew Seyler bought Forest Park East and West and began cleaning up the neglected cemeteries by hiring a landscaping crew that spent $100,000 to mow, trim, and remove dead trees—showing families that change is underway. He said he will next straighten gravestones and uncover footstones while repaving will wait as funds are directed toward repairs. KTBS
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A man died after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Hearne Avenue near J.S. Clark Middle School on Aug 16 around 8 p.m.—Shreveport Police found his body at the scene with multiple blunt-force injuries and are investigating the incident while an autopsy is pending. KSLA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two people were shot during a gathering at an apartment complex (2929 Peach Street) on August 16 at 11:20 p.m.; one victim was taken to the hospital by EMT and the other by a private car, and both are in stable condition as Shreveport Police investigate the incident. KSLA
- ➤ On Saturday, August 16 — near J.S. Clark Middle School on Hearne Avenue — 40-year-old Blake Tannen was hit and killed by a vehicle, and police are still investigating the crash. KTAL
