CRIME NEWS

  • On August 18th, police investigated a fatal shooting that occurred at 10:30 p.m.—one driver was fatally hit while a black car with three passengers opened fire on the 1600 block of Dr. MLK Drive, and officers are now searching for the suspects.  KSLA
  • The Shreveport police are asking for the public's help finding nine-year-old London Isaac, who was last seen on August 19 walking east on East Egan Street and was wearing a pink shirt, grey tights, and a blue jean jacket.  KTBS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Caddo Parish School Board approved a one-time $1,500 stipend for all eligible district employees with payments scheduled for Sept. 12 for those employed and eligible for benefits by Sept. 1, funded by higher-than-expected local tax revenues. New hires for the 2025–2026 school year will qualify for both the board bonus and the state-approved bonus of $2,000 for certified teachers and $1,000 for support staff.  KTBS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Caddo Parish Commission tabled an amendment that would require a Special Exception Use for placing manufactured homes within five miles—adding a $350 fee and a public hearing—to address resident concerns. Fourteen residents spoke and 12 emailed their objections, with local groups warning the measure limits affordable housing for working families.  KTAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA warned consumers in Louisiana and 12 other states not to eat specific lots of Great Value frozen raw shrimp sold at Walmart after tests showed potential cesium-137 contamination from shipments processed by an Indonesian supplier (PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati) and urged shoppers to dispose of the product since its best by date is March 15, 2027.  Shreveport Times
