- ➤ Family, friends and community members in Shreveport mourn retired Captain Calvin MacHenry Abram Sr., who devoted 42 years to public service (27 with the Shreveport Police Department, 5 with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department and 10 with the Airport Police) and is remembered for his calm spirit and skill in de-escalating tense moments. A celebration of his life will be held this weekend at Union Mission Baptist Church where those who knew him will share memories and honor his legacy. KTAL

- ➤ Shreveport police arrested Semaj Mitchell, the final suspect linked to the fatal shooting of Labriesha Patterson on Aug.18 in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Drive—he faces a charge of Second-Degree Murder and reportedly sustained injuries after falling from a moving vehicle during the incident. - ➤ A judge denied Cortrell Burks’ motion to toss his alleged confessions in connection with a double homicide at a Valero — surveillance video linked him to the shooting deaths of clerk Jariah Hamilton and customer Joshua Calk, and his trial is set for August 17 with his defense planning an appeal.
