  • Summer Grove Baptist Church voted on Sunday to seek a new location after 544 votes resulted in 347 favoring a lease or new building option—no move will occur soon as further votes are needed to decide the final direction and address rising maintenance costs at the former South Park Mall.  KTBS

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On August 23, 41-year-old Kenrick Williams died in a vehicle collision at Illinois Avenue and Broadway Avenue in Shreveport—he was taken to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital after the crash.  KTAL
  • Kendrick Williams, a 41-year-old motorcyclist from Shreveport, died in a crash on August 23 just after 5 p.m.—his motorcycle collided with a car.  KSLA
  • On August 23, in Mooretown, Shreveporter Kendrick Williams, 41, died when his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Broadway Avenue—he was taken to a local hospital where he lost his life shortly after the crash.  KSLA

CRIME NEWS

  • On August 24, Louisiana State Police were contacted at 3:30 p.m. to investigate a shooting involving a deputy from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office—one person died.  KSLA
  • On August 24, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office said they are seeking help to locate 17-year-old Jakyren Pipes missing from south Shreveport—officials urge any person with information to come forward.  KSLA
  • On August 24, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office asked for help finding 17-year-old Jakyren Pipes after he left his south Shreveport home at 2:36 a.m.—he is a Black teen, 5′4″ and about 120 lbs with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a dark-colored shirt and light-colored pants and has a history of mental health issues.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, businesses and residents across North Louisiana must switch to 10-digit dialing as the new 457 area code launches alongside the existing 318. Businesses will update equipment such as security systems, medical devices, fax machines, and automated dialing devices—ensuring they meet the new dialing requirement.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
