  • The Young Professionals Initiative of Northwest Louisiana announced the 40 Under Forty Class of 2025—recognizing local leaders for strong careers, education and community service. One member will be named Young Professional of the Year Award winner at a gala on Dec. 5—celebrating the region’s emerging talent.  KSLA

CRIME NEWS

  • Shreveport police used a drone to locate and arrest a murder suspect inside a home as the tool helped officers avoid a dangerous confrontation—the suspect surrendered without incident.  KTBS
  • The Shreveport Police Department is investigating fraudulent parking citations that feature a QR code linking drivers to a fake payment website—citizens are urged not to scan the code and to report any sightings to SPD.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • A motorcycle driver, 41-year-old Kendrick Williams, died Saturday after a collision near Shreveport Regional Airport—police said Toyota Camry driver Victoria Jones, 22, allegedly drove impaired and was taken to the DWI office.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Shreveport Department of Water & Sewerage said a booster station pump fault led to low water pressure and prompted them to issue a boil advisory on Monday, Aug. 25 for areas south of East Burt Kouns, subdivisions along Linwood Avenue, and neighborhoods southeast of the I-49 & 3132 interchange. Residents in these areas must boil water for one minute before using it.  KSLA

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and other groups lowered the high blood pressure threshold to 130/80 mm Hg to help Louisiana residents catch hypertension earlier. They also recommend heart-healthy steps such as reducing sodium intake and increasing exercise to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.  Shreveport Times

  • Southwood coach De’Aumante Johnson took over a team with a 46-game losing streak — he and seniors Kaden Davis and T.J. Avant are confident the new disciplined approach will make a change.
