- ➤ The Clear the Shelters pet adoption campaign ended at Sci-Port Discovery Center in August to urge Shreveport residents to adopt stray cats—local owner Catie Gill said many neighborhoods see stray kittens, and event coordinator Mary Jo Henderson stressed the importance of finding new homes for pets. - ➤ YMCA of Northwest Louisiana is launching a campaign to collect the remaining funds for its $9.8 million youth baseball — softball complex after raising $7.8 million in phase one. A press conference to unveil phase two will be held on Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. next to the BHP YMCA on Knight Street to outline plans to build eight artificial turf fields for local youth sports. KSLA

- ➤ Police Chief Wayne Smith showed city council a drone video that captured a wanted murder suspect at a vacated residence turning his hand in a threatening manner—after a BearCat arrived, the suspect lowered his weapon and surrendered peacefully. KTAL
- ➤ Shreveport Police celebrated National Dog Day by highlighting K-9 Edy, a three-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd from the Czech Republic who has spent almost two years in the K-9 Unit searching for drugs+ and catching fleeing suspects, with his handler noting that he is goofy yet very effective at his job. - ➤ Two people were arrested in Bossier Parish on Saturday evening after deputies stopped a car on Airline Drive; officers found a stolen gun and meth and the suspects (Christina Laroux, 46, and Michael Emanis, 40) now face charges. KTAL
- ➤ Shreveport officers are seeking Kaleb Martin after an armed home invasion on Aug 25 just before 10:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Patton Avenue when he forced entry by ramming the door and struck a man multiple times in the forehead with a gun—SPD said the doorbell camera showed he had the weapon tucked under his arm.
