- ➤ Shreveport police reported that 17-year-old Cameron Ballentine was shot multiple times just after midnight on Aug. 31 and died at 12:54 p.m. at Ochsner LSU Health — his death marks the 25th homicide in Shreveport and 30th in Caddo Parish so far. Shreveport Times
- ➤ In August 2024, a Shreveport teen, Anthony Brown Jr., was found responsively guilty for shooting Troy Ducote in the back as Ducote tried to run after being taunted and attacked on Boone Street—he will face sentencing on Sept. 29. Shreveport Times

- ➤ The 21st Annual Highland Jazz and Blues Festival will be held on Sept. 13 in Columbia Park in Shreveport’s Historic Highland Neighborhood. - ➤ Many Ark-La-Tex travelers saw cheaper gas after Labor Day weekend as lower oil prices and discounts from Brookshire’s, Walmart, and Sam’s Club helped reduce costs—prices averaged $3.15 nationally, with some local club members paying about $2.50 per gallon. KTBS

- ➤ Three District 8 residents—Jeri Bowen, Cheyenna Newman, and Emma Shepard—have applied to be the interim representative on the Caddo Parish School Board and will be interviewed in an open session at 4 p.m. today by Board President Jasmine Green. The selected candidate will be sworn in immediately and serve until the special election on April 18, following Christine Tharpe's departure. KTBS
- ➤ Booker T. Washington High School announced that longtime coach and teacher Terence Winn died unexpectedly Monday at age 59 — he spent 33 years teaching and more than 30 years coaching while earning awards like Teacher of the Year finalist and Caddo Red Apple Award recipient. KTAL
- ➤ Eden Gardens High School class of 1970 received their diplomas on Aug 20 — 55 years after they were moved during integration. Dozens of former students gathered at Caddo Middle Magnet for the reunion as 148 members were honored in the ceremony. KSLA
- ➤ The Caddo Parish School Board held a special session at 4:00 p.m. today to interview three candidates—Jeri Bowen, Cheyenna Newman, and Emma Shepard—for the interim District 8 seat, and the board will vote immediately after the interviews.
