  • Rick Rowe remembered Mark Allen as a Springhill native and dedicated public servant who served in the Guard and as a Shreveport firefighter before dying from brain cancer. Visitation took place Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton—his funeral will be today at 11 a.m.  KTBS
  • Shreveport Green will host the Urban Farm market every Wednesday in September from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1034 Sprague St.—fresh, local produce is available in Ledbetter Heights, Allendale, Lakeside, and Shreveport Commons.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • After a video showing an officer returning items to a local store prompted criminal and administrative investigations, the Shreveport Police Department arrested three officers—booked at Caddo Correctional Center on Sept. 5—for theft and malfeasance in office linked to a repossession call at a local casino.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Shreveport Police arrested Jacobi Hughes after investigating a domestic incident on Saturday in the Ingleside neighborhood that led to Kalisa Franklin’s death—signs of a violent struggle were noted at the home.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Red River Quilters will hold their 2025 Quilt Show on Sept 12–13 at the Agriculture Building in Shreveport, where over 200 quilts will be displayed in shows like Quilts That Shout and Quilts with Curves. Local artist Bobbie Deeter is featured and there will be a vendors market, silent auction and raffle for a 100" x 100" quilt.  Shreveport Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The North Louisiana Economic Partnership acquired the former Libbey Glass complex at 4302 Jewella Ave—a 54-acre rail-served site with over 850,000 square feet of facilities—that it will transform for modern manufacturing jobs as redevelopment plans progress.  KTBS

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • At Creamer Furniture Estate in Shreveport, the first auction took place Monday at 8 a.m. for warehouse items and storage finds, and today an online-only auction will conclude at 1 p.m. The remaining auctions on Oct. 9 and Oct. 27 will offer new and used furniture, equipment, and real estate — with a 15% buyer’s premium applied.  KTBS
