- ➤ The YMCA of Northwest Louisiana hosted its annual 9/11 Commemorative Stair Climb where participants in firefighter gear climbed 110 flights of stairs to honor first responders and the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11. Donations of $10 or more earned a commemorative pin and raised funds will support local first responders — a lasting tribute to sacrifice. KTAL
- ➤ Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the Department of Community Development held a meeting on Sept. 10 to celebrate the Choice Neighborhood Grant Initiative that funded the Bayou Grande housing complex, which relocated families after the demolition of Wilkinson Terrace in 2021 — easing a local housing shortage. City officials stressed that the grant was vital for supporting low to moderate income residents facing high housing costs. KTAL

- ➤ Prize Fest will host its first Celebrity Chef BBQ Takeover in downtown Shreveport on October 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the event will feature Top Chef Champion Tristen Epps and other celebrity and local chefs serving smoked meats, a side, and a dessert—advance tickets cost $55 in advance and $65 at the door with only 200 available. - ➤ LSUS Continuing Education and the LSUS Department of Psychology will host their annual Bullying Prevention and Suicide Prevention Conference today at LSUS campus—providing in-person training for educators, counselors, and mental health workers that offers continuing education units. - ➤ Caddo Parish Public Schools announced that 13 seniors scored in the top 1% on the PSAT and became National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists — the most in the region. Their strong scores qualify them for the 71st National Merit Scholarship Program. Shreveport Bossier Journal
