COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The final Block by Block neighborhood sweep took place Saturday in the Broadmoor neighborhood—volunteers teamed with Shreveport Green to clear debris and deliver surveys. Mayor Tom Arceneaux said the city will expand the program in its next phase. KTBS
- ➤ Fathers on A Mission will launch a program in 2026 to teach new fathers how to parent in Shreveport. KSLA
- ➤ Green Oaks and Booker T. Washington High School will come together for the Soul Bowl, a football event set to kick off at 5 pm Saturday on Booker T. Washington’s campus. Both schools hosted a battle of the bands and shared breakfast at the LSU Shreveport ballroom to celebrate local football tradition and unite the community. KTAL
- ➤ Volunteers painted a street mural on Olive Street in front of The Highland Center on Saturday, Sept. 20—mixing street marking paint to bring a colorful butterfly and insect design to life. - ➤ The 49th Annual Red River Revel Arts Festival returns to Shreveport with art, music, food and family fun spanning two weekends. Organizers plan to showcase local talent and live performances — more details on dates are expected soon. KSLA
- ➤ The 3rd Annual Shreveport Fashion Week Show will begin the week of fashion at Bally's Casino & Hotel Ballroom at 451 Clyde Fant Pkwy — local organizers expect the event to highlight emerging local designers and models. The show will bring new trends and energy to Shreveport's fashion scene. KSLA
- ➤ On Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., Twang Darkly performed a free atmospheric concert at Caddo Common park at 869 Texas Avenue—showcasing their unique rural space music style. KSLA
- ➤ Kirk Reedstrom will hold an author talk from 2-3 p.m. and a book signing for his new book Moose’s Bad Hair Day from 3-4 p.m.—fans can meet him in person at the event. KSLA

- ➤ Parents at a Caddo Parish school board meeting pressed for clarity on a new student promotion plan that used the word 'should' in one section but 'must' in another—raising concerns about red-lined changes and the addition of the GATOR Scholarship Program that some fear diverts taxpayer dollars, with the board yet to take final action. - ➤ The Caddo Commission voted yes to a $10M pickleball park project, moving forward plans for a new recreational facility for local players—further funding and design work are planned for upcoming meetings. KTAL
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Several high school teams in our area remain undefeated after Week 3 as North DeSoto beat West Monroe 39-28 and Southwood won back-to-back for the first time since 2009 — with Captain Shreve’s senior Jamarcea Plater running 16 times for 142 yards and scoring three touchdowns in a district win over Natchitoches Central. Northwood, Airline, Woodlawn, and Lakeside also secured wins, and strong plays by key players have set a competitive tone for upcoming games — fueling excitement among local fans. Shreveport Times
- ➤ Captain Shreve’s running back Gabe Lockett won this week’s Shreveport Times Athlete of the Week poll with 7,007 votes—42% of the total—and is returning to form after a significant knee injury.
