ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A large fire burned down the historic clubhouse at Shreveport Country Club on the 3100 block of Esplanade Avenue Saturday afternoon — no injuries were reported — and more than 75 firefighters responded while officials investigated the cause.  KTBS

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Shreveport’s Honeywell UOP Catalyst plant has operated for 75 years on Old Mooringsport Road producing over 50,000 metric tons of catalysts each year that help make cleaner fuels and everyday products—its team has maintained a two-year injury-free record and supports about 250 local workers. City officials praise the plant for boosting local jobs, tax revenue and global energy innovation.  KTBS

  • A new Chicken & Blues Festival will celebrate the region's rich culture with live music and culinary arts in Shreveport—showing local traditions through music and food.  KSLA
  • Krewe of Centaur hosted a unique golf tournament to raise funds and recruit new members for its Mardi Gras krewe—organizers say the event will help support future celebrations.  KSLA
  • Gamemasters for Bloodroot Requiem spoke with ArkLaTex Artistry about their live action role-play game — they explained how creative storytelling and detailed roleplay define the game as an art form today.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Liz Murrill fired all outside lawyers for Secretary of State Nancy Landry over a dispute about the Callais case—oral arguments are set for Oct. 15, and Murrill said the move was needed to protect her role while Landry claimed it was unnecessary.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Registered voters in Louisiana have received mailers about a new party primary system that lets only registered party members vote for some offices while other contests stay open to all. The law, made by the Legislature in Act 1, requires voters to update their registration by March 18 and April 29 — dates set for in-person or mail changes.  KTAL
