  • Southfield School’s Pumpkin Shine on Line returns for its 33rd year at Betty Virginia Park on Tuesday, October 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.—featuring over 90 pumpkins decorated by local students and themed displays from various groups. The free event will offer food from local eateries, family-friendly activities, and free iShuttle transportation from the Sears parking lot at Mall St. Vincent—ensuring easy access for visitors.  KTAL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • More than 30 local business leaders gathered at LSU Shreveport on October 10 to learn how artificial intelligence could change their work. AI consultant Nick Askew explained that simple digital tools, like chatbots for scheduling and customer service, are already reducing costs in industries such as automotive, real estate, and restaurants.  KTAL

  • The Marshall Police Department confirmed they are investigating a reported school shooting threat at Marshall Jr. High School today — officials are checking the situation and ensuring student safety.  KTBS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Prize Fest will run from Oct. 15 to Oct. 19 and lets local viewers vote for their favorite of 20 short films. The event will give voters the chance to support local filmmaking talent — a key opportunity for the community.  KSLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A former Caddo Parish death investigator who worked over 16,000 death scenes asked parish leaders to fund a school-based program that teaches teens practical ways to exit dangerous situations using his R.I.P. lesson (Real, Irreversible, Permanent). Parish commissioners praised the prevention focus and are looking at connecting him with local youth service hubs and the school board for further review.  KTBS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Keep Louisiana Beautiful awarded Shreveport a $10,000 grant for a beautification project at the regional airport entryway along Monkhouse Drive. The city will plant native, perennial plants—effective at reducing pollutants—to enhance this important public space.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Friday, October 10, the City of Shreveport Department of Engineering began repairs on Stratmore Drive from Pugh Avenue to Stratmore Circle in two phases that replace damaged concrete panels—through traffic will remain open throughout as drivers are urged to follow posted signs and directions from work crews.  KTAL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Thursday night football games were close as Parkway beat Airline 48—43 in a contest with 10 lead changes while Northwood, Huntington, Loyola and Benton also won. Loyola quarterback Bryce Restovich threw six touchdown passes in a 56—26 win over Bossier.  Shreveport Times
  • The longtime Querbes Park golfer Harry Allen—nearly 90—shot a 74 at the Mississippi Senior Olympics in Biloxi over the weekend and earned the top score in his age group. His round could have qualified him for the National Senior Games in 2027 and he earned praise back home.  KTBS
  • LSU’s defense is adjusting its scheme to better stop mobile quarterbacks—especially South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers—after giving up big plays last season.
