- ➤ Food Prize will host its Celebrity Chef BBQ Takeover event—featuring a renowned chef showcasing barbecue techniques for Shreveport residents. KSLA
- ➤ Families will be invited to celebrate Halloween with a free trunk-or-treat event at Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Park on October 19 from 5 to 7 p.m.—decorated cars will hand out candy and offer games while kids can join a pumpkin decorating contest for a chance to win prizes. - ➤ Eight comedians performed on October 16 at the Remington Garage in downtown Shreveport for Comedy Prize 2025—stand-up comedian Peter Revello from New York won a $2,500 cash prize. Shreveport Times
- ➤ The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra will present this year’s Spooky Symphony — a free community event featuring a costume parade, trunk-or-treat, art activities, face painting, and food trucks. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on October 19 at Caddo Common Park, with a 2 p.m. performance and trunk-or-treat hosted by the Lions Club from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. KTAL
- ➤ Northwestern State University Theatre and Dance will perform Molière’s classic comedy The Learned Ladies at Theatre West from October 29 to November 2, 2025—showtimes are 7:30 p.m. for evening performances and 2 p.m. for matinees, and the 80-minute play is recommended for ages 10 and up. KTAL
- ➤ Downtown Shreveport will host Prize Fest this weekend where residents can watch 20 short films and vote for their favorite winner — the event supports local filmmakers and builds community interest — officials will tally votes when the festival ends. KSLA

- ➤ A group of education leaders in Louisiana is studying the safe use of AI in schools—nearly 30 experts will offer recommendations at a state board meeting on March 10. Gov. - ➤ Louisiana’s 64 coroners use different protocols to count heat deaths, so the true number is likely much higher than reported—experts say many cases go uncounted.
