- ➤ Several neighborhoods in Shreveport and Bossier, including areas in Shreveport, Blanchard, Bossier City and Haughton, are set to host trick-or-treating as residents display outdoor lights on stop-friendly houses—trick-or-treaters will soon fill their candy pouches on Halloween. Shreveport Times
- ➤ Elvira Helaire-Davis, a Shreveport resident who witnessed events from World War I to the Civil Rights Era, passed away on October 27 at age 110, surrounded by her family — she is now honored by community leaders for her remarkable life. KTAL

- ➤ A New York federal judge ruled in favor of online publishers by awarding partial summary judgment to Gannett—finding that Google unlawfully monopolized its ad placement technology. Gannett CEO Mike Reed called the decision a major legal win as the case moves forward to determine damages. Shreveport Times

- ➤ KTBS aired a segment yesterday featuring legendary guitarist James Burton and his foundation — known for giving free guitars to schools, veterans and children’s hospitals — while previewing the upcoming benefit concert at Horseshoe Riverdome on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. which will fund a new music program in local schools. - ➤ Centenary College Theatre will present The Thanksgiving Play, a sharp comedy written by Larissa FastHorse and directed by Logan Sledge starting today through November 2 at the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse in Shreveport. The play follows teachers staging a politically correct Thanksgiving pageant that goes awry when a casting mistake leads to unexpected chaos. KTAL

- ➤ On Oct. 28, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office offered a free Prime Time Family Reading program for children ages 6 to 10 at Sheriff's Safety Town in Shreveport + served dinner before story time. - ➤ Evangel Christian Academy senior Antoni Snowden signed a full volleyball scholarship with Southwestern Kansas College on Tuesday—she became the fifth player in school history to earn a full award. She signed before the final regular season game against Huntington on Senior Night and said her strong mindset and hard work will help her succeed in college. Shreveport Times
- ➤ Louisiana middle school students can now apply for the 2026 National Civics Bee by submitting a four‐paragraph essay to improve their community — a contest hosted locally by the Greater Shreveport Chamber in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The regional round will take place on May 19 at LSUS and winners will advance to a national championship in Washington later in fall, with prizes benefiting both students and their schools. KTAL

- ➤ City Council Chairwoman Tabatha Taylor said there is no plan to end the Paint Your Heart Out Shreveport program—rumors of a shutdown are incorrect and the council will only vote on donating leftover supplies.
