  • The Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office presented proceeds from the Kick Against Domestic Violence Kickball Tournament to Project Celebration, Inc. — local agencies collaborated to raise awareness and organizers announced that a new tournament date is being scheduled with further details coming soon.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • The Prize Foundation announced that the Battle for the Golden Fork has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 18 at 5:00 p.m.—the event will be held at BPCC’s main quad. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Louisiana will use $150 million monthly in state funds to provide emergency food aid for about 565,000 SNAP recipients after federal benefits freeze Saturday—Gov. Jeff Landry said payments will load to EBT cards in the first four days of November. Lawmakers unanimously approved an emergency funding resolution while roughly 53,000 households with able-bodied adults will not qualify for the support.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • The Housing Authority of Shreveport held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for Fairfield Estates II to build 52 new affordable housing units that will replace dilapidated Wilkinson Terrace. The project is expected to finish in 12 to 18 months as over 2,000 people have joined the waitlist while CEO Bobby Collins noted the community is 20,000 units short.  KTBS
