On Veterans Day, many restaurants in Louisiana will offer free meals and discounts for veterans-active duty soldiers as a way to honor their service.

Brookshire Grocery announced on November 3 that it will donate $500,000 to local food banks (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma) to help families facing food insecurity during the government shutdown and SNAP pause.
The funds will bridge the meal gap for communities served by its stores.
