  • Tom Wright and his wife hired Timber in Systems to trim a leaning tree from their yard and paid $1,500 after SWEPCO repeatedly delayed inspection, worried the tree might hit their house and power line. SWEPCO explained that tree maintenance is the homeowner’s responsibility — following strict guidelines to ensure safety around power lines.  KTAL
  • Joyce Taylor Dixon turned 100 today at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Shreveport—her family gathered to honor her milestone as a pillar of the community.  KTBS

  • The FAA's plan to reduce flights at 40 top airports has led to cancellations across the country—travelers now face full flights and fewer rental cars as holiday travel picks up. Airport officials urge passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.  KTAL

  • Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department hosted Art in the Park on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Richard Fleming Park—an event that showcased local art for community members.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • J.S. Clark Elementary in Shreveport added 175 trees on Saturday, November 8 as volunteers planted 20 fruit trees and 155 native trees in a project led by Shreveport Green—Energy Transfer and Tandem Global to create a nature campus.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Ammar Husan at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport said getting screened with blood sugar and A1C tests is essential for early detection—this informs patients if they are prediabetic or diabetic. Jessica Migues, who nearly died last October when her blood sugar spiked and now faces challenges with a heart transplant due to type 1 diabetes—her experience shows the serious risks of unmanaged diabetes.  KTAL

  • In Friday's prep games, Haughton beat St. Louis Catholic 58 to 34 and receiver Ethan Johnson set the Bossier Parish record with nine catches for 102 receptions—surpassing Airline's previous high of 100.   • LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier struggled against Alabama Saturday night—he completed 18 of 21 passes for 121 yards with no touchdowns before being replaced by Michael Van Buren. His performance ended a streak of 14 consecutive games with a touchdown pass as LSU prepares for next week's matchup against Arkansas.  Shreveport Times
  • Several district football teams won on Friday, Nov. 7 — Loyola, Evangel, Ruston, Haughton, NCHS, Calvary, and BTW all secured key wins with close scores and standout plays; notably, Loyola edged Northwood 28-27 while Haynesville finished a perfect regular season with a 47-0 win. The contests featured strong offensive drives and crucial moments from players who made significant contributions throughout the games.  Shreveport Times
