- ➤ ArkLaTex will honor veterans in Shreveport as a Veterans Day Program will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Shreve Memorial Library North Shreveport Branch featuring the Northwood High School JROTC Color Guard and guest speaker Sylvia Powers who will lead the Freedom Tree lighting. Additional local events include a Veterans Honor Ceremony at Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on Nov. 15 and a Veterans Day Parade at the State Fair on Nov. 16 — all planned to recognize the service and sacrifice of our veterans. - ➤ Numerous local companies are offering Veterans Day deals for active-duty service members, veterans and military families in Shreveport today — featuring free meals, discounts and special promotions at restaurants, retailers and auto services. Customers should bring valid military identification as some deals may require verification. KTBS
- ➤ The ArkLaTex is celebrating veterans today with a parade and other events—nonprofit groups are hosting VetFest to offer additional resources to local veterans. KSLA
- ➤ KSLA will host its annual Holiday Food Drive on Nov. 12 to collect food donations for local residents in need. KSLA

- ➤ Stage Center announced its first Mainstage production of The Normal Heart as part of its 15th Anniversary Season. The play will open December 19 at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on the Centenary College campus — running for one weekend. Shreveport's Secrets
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ DESRI and Cleco Power will break ground Friday at 11 a.m. on a 240-megawatt solar facility at the Dolet Hills site on Shamar Patrice Road south of Mansfield — one of the largest planned solar projects in Louisiana. The $250 million project, announced in 2022 to replace a former lignite plant, is expected to power about 45,000 homes — a key step in boosting local renewable energy. KTBS

- ➤ The Caddo Parish Commission and the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana will hold a free food distribution event Saturday, Nov. 22 — residents can pick up one box per family at various Shreveport locations at 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. while supplies last. KSLA
- ➤ The Caddo Parish Commission will host a free food giveaway on November 22 to help residents as the government shutdown creates uncertainty around SNAP benefits—officials say the event will provide direct food support to those in need. KSLA

- ➤ Registration is now open for The Bridge Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center’s Fifth Annual Conference on Alzheimer’s and Dementia that will be held on Friday, November 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bain Hall in First Methodist Church in Shreveport.
