COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Moms on a Mission will host a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway on November 23 to feed 100 families in Shreveport — the charity aims to support community members during the holiday.  KSLA
  • Christian Services in Shreveport saw record numbers of people and children coming for meals amid the government shutdown and SNAP restrictions. Executive director Al Moore said meal counts jumped from around 130 for breakfast to 250 for lunch plus city council will vote on funding for the feeding program on December 9.  KTAL
  • Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church will host its annual heater giveaway—scheduled for Nov. 22.  KSLA
  • On Saturday (Nov. 22), the Caddo Parish Commission and Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana will host a free food giveaway in the parish. Residents are invited to attend and receive food supplies.  KSLA

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Krewes of Gemini and Centaur will host a 12th Night Celebration at the Bossier Civic Center on Jan. 3 to kick off the 2026 Mardi Gras season—doors open at 6 p.m. and the program starts at 8 p.m.  KSLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Caddo Parish Magnet High School (1601 Viking Drive) will host a military recognition program this Friday (10:40 a.m.) to honor veterans and active-duty service members. The event will feature a guest speaker from Barksdale Air Force Base and a ceremony by the Junior ROTC Mustang Battalion.  KTBS
  • Today the annual Loyola Style Show and Luncheon opens at the Bossier Civic Center at 11 a.m.—seniors model fashions from local boutiques and join the Senior Walk while parents and grandparents take part in the Alumni Walk to mark a cherished school tradition.  KTAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Shreveport leaders announced new security improvements on the west side during Monday's City Council meeting as the Committee of 100 funded cameras for the Monkhouse Drive corridor near the airport. A dedication ceremony will be held today at 1 p.m. outside the airport's welcome sign — officials expect about 60 attendees.  KTBS

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Louisiana High School Athletic Association football playoffs will start this week as Northwest Louisiana teams earn home games—Parkway, Northwood-Shrev, and BTW-Shreveport have set matchups. Top-seeded teams like Ruston and North DeSoto have byes—opening the field for local teams to compete in early rounds.  Shreveport Times
