- ➤ Even as the federal shutdown nears its end, Christian Service at 2346 Levy St. in Shreveport has seen free meal visits jump to 165 for breakfast and 250 for lunch on Nov. 3—numbers far above its usual turnout due to delayed federal benefits. - ➤ Barksdale Family Wholesale is collecting food donations for KSLA's annual Holiday Food Drive—this effort helps support local families in need during the holiday season. KSLA
- ➤ CHRISTUS Health Highland on E Bert Kouns has been collecting food donations for KSLA’s annual Holiday Food Drive — Barksdale Family Wholesale, Word of God Ministries, and Landers dealership hosted drop-offs yesterday — bolstering efforts to aid families in need. KSLA
- ➤ Christmas in Roseland secured AEP SWEPCO as its title sponsor for the 42nd annual event at the American Rose Center — the lights will shine on select nights from Dec. 4 through Dec. 23 with art contests, rides, food trucks, and fireworks. Caddo Parish Commission also supported the event with a $50,000 grant to help keep America’s Rose Gardens beautiful. KTBS
- ➤ The Caddo Parish Commission and the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana will hold a food distribution event — Saturday, Nov. 22 — at several Shreveport locations, and food will be given on a first come, first served basis — one box per family per vehicle — with pick-up times at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Shreveport Bossier Journal

- ➤ Caddo Schools have launched a pilot program to boost attendance by contacting parents and enforcing new policies; early data from places like Youree Drive Middle School show rates above 95% in August and September—district officials noted that these improvements follow lower numbers from last year. Superintendent Keith Burton said teams will address chronic absenteeism with home visits and parent meetings—efforts aimed at reducing truancy across several schools.
