  • Keep Bossier Beautiful is hosting its Plant a Flag Plant a Tree giveaway on Nov. 15 at Airline High School to honor veterans — the event invites local residents to join in a meaningful tribute.  KSLA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Christmas in Roseland returns December 4th at the American Rose Center—covering 60 acres with millions of lights, holiday rides, fireworks and art exhibits by local students. EDUCATION NEWS

  • LSUS announced a record Fall enrollment of 11,359 students (up nearly 5% from Fall 2024 with a 15% jump in undergraduates) and said the university is reinvesting in campus facilities while planning on-campus housing and a new health and wellness hub.   • LSUS Career and Internship Fair gave students and alumni a chance to meet recruiters from diverse industries in Bossier City — the event boosted connections that can lead to future jobs.  KTAL

FINANCE NEWS

  • A new analysis shows that Louisiana homebuyers considering a 50-year mortgage can pay less monthly but will nearly double their total interest and extend debt into retirement—lenders and regulators will review the option before it is offered widely.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The longest government shutdown ended but Shreveport travelers are still facing flight cancellations; Airport Director Larry Blackwell said three flights were canceled today with more expected through next week—delaying a return to normal schedules. He added that steps taken during the shutdown to rebook passengers and reposition planes will require time to reverse.  KTBS
  • On November 12, BRF and the Committee of One Hundred donated $60,000—split evenly—to install security cameras on Monkhouse Drive near the airport, part of a broader plan for lighting, landscaping, and infrastructure upgrades. City law enforcement and the mayor will work with local partners to enhance safety and improve the corridor for residents and visitors.  Shreveport Times

  • Dr. Michael A. Lindsey, dean of the NYU Silver School of Social Work, advised parents to watch for changes like sleep and appetite shifts—signs of possible mental health struggles—and to use tips from the Ad Council's Sound It Out campaign to support their children.  KTAL

  • Many Louisiana grocery stores will operate on modified hours on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 27, with Whole Foods open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.—Kroger and Albertsons set to run from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. while Walmart, Target, Costco and Sam's Club will remain closed.  Shreveport Times

  • The local LHSAA playoffs feature nine teams from the area, with six playing today following an exciting regular season, according to Lee Brecheen of Louisiana Football Magazine. His forecast predicts close contests in both Select and Non-Select divisions — noting key matchups such as Captain Shreve’s strong performance and Booker T.
