  • On November 13, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce held its 35th ATHENA Leadership Award Luncheon in Shreveport & honored sixteen local women for their service; Ruth Moseley Norton received the 2025 ATHENA Award with her loved ones accepting it on her behalf.  KTAL

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 51st annual Les Boutiques de Noel will begin on November 21 at the Shreveport Convention Center and run through November 23, featuring over 90 merchants with unique holiday gifts and gourmet treats available alongside free parking. The event supports Shreveport Opera programs + includes special activities such as a Santa visit on November 23 for families to capture festive moments.  Shreveport's Secrets

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Louisiana’s military economy grew by 77% since 2021 and generated $17 billion in 2024 with over $1 billion spent at Barksdale in Shreveport and Fort Polk near Alexandria—these bases drove significant job creation and spending. Bollinger Shipyards in Houma is set to launch a multi-billion dollar shipbuilding project that will add 600 jobs and further boost economic growth.  Shreveport Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A major 240-MW solar power facility began construction Friday when Cleco and DESRI broke ground on the Dolet Hills Solar Power Facility on Shamar Patrice Road in Mansfield—northwest Louisiana. The project will provide clean, reliable energy to the region.  KSLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Public Works Director Jarvis Morgan warned City Council that trash thrown from car windows can contaminate local drinking water and increase pressure on Shreveport’s budget—forcing officials to consider raising the $7 garbage fee. The city will launch education campaigns in neighborhoods, schools and HOAs while the council will debate fee changes ahead of Dec. 9th.  KTBS
  • Today at 5 p.m., the Municipal Auditorium will host an annual ceremony where 14 local veterans are recognized with Alexandra Meachum as emcee—both events are free and open to the public. On Sunday at noon, a parade will roll through the state fairgrounds with local military leaders and school bands performing, further honoring veterans in the community.  KTAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • Louisiana health officials warned parents on Nov. 14 to dispose of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula for possible botulism contamination after 23 infants across 13 states were hospitalized, including some in nearby Texas. They advised consumers to record lot numbers and thoroughly wash any surfaces that came in contact with the recalled product.  Shreveport Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior Tony Gladney (nicknamed Tony Football) helped Parkway beat Covington 51-30 on Friday, November 14 by scoring key plays when his team was down 10-0, including recovering a fumble for a touchdown. His play gave the Panthers their first playoff win in four years and set up a second-round game with No. 11 Hahnville (their next match).  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Woodlawn coach Thedrick Harris resigned as head football coach and will continue as athletic director after a 1–9 season. North Caddo removed head coach Chase Thompson and is seeking a replacement — Thompson said he will take an assistant role at another school.  Shreveport Times
  • BTW High School beat Istrouma on Friday at Leonard C Barnes Stadium for its first football playoff win in 20 years, improving its record to 7-4. The Lions will play University Lab next week in the regional round (coach Gary Cooper credited key defensive plays for the win).  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • In Friday's prep football playoffs, Captain Shreve defeated the Tornados 61 to 21 in Hammond while Mansfield and Logansport earned home playoff games next week—Airline was eliminated as Westgate won 49 to 14, marking their first opening-round road loss since 2022.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Booker T Washington earned a home playoff game and will host Istrouma tonight in a rematch after a 46 to 44 loss last year—Coach Gary Cooper said he is excited for his senior class. Parkway will host Covington while Northwood, still reeling from a 28 to 27 loss at Loyola last week, will play Barbe as all three local teams look for a win in the playoffs.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Louisiana Tech lost starting quarterback Blake Baker to a season-ending knee injury last Saturday at Delaware, and coach Sonny Cumbie will start a new quarterback when the Bulldogs face Washington State today at 9 p.m. CT on The CW & 95.7 KLKL FM. The team, now 5-4 and one win away from bowl eligibility, aims to secure its first six-win season since 2019.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
