COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation is hosting a food drive for canned goods and non-perishable items until November 20 and will run a drive-thru Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at noon on November 20 at the Bilberry Community Center until supplies last—donations can be dropped off at Stageworks of Louisiana on Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway.  KTAL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Take 5 Oil Change opened a new service center at 5834 N.-Market St to mark its fifth location in the Shreveport area. The center offers three service bays, a 10-minute stay-in-your-car oil change, and free services like tire pressure checks and fluid top-offs, and it is open seven days a week to serve local drivers.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • KTBS 3’s Patrick Dennis visited local cattle farmers as record beef prices have pushed grocery bills higher. Smith Family Farms in Bossier and C-6 Farms in Desoto explained that rising input costs and increased demand will keep prices high—affecting future beef purchases in Shreveport.  KTBS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Caddo Parish Schools began construction on a new wing at Donnie Bickham Middle School to house lower elementary students from the closing Blanchard Elementary School (a consolidation designed to save funds) with work that will finish by the first day of the 2026-2027 school year (to ensure long-term viability).  Shreveport Times
  • Caddo Parish Public Schools announced its 2025–2026 Students of the Year on Nov. 14—Sanil Thorat of Fairfield Elementary Magnet, Parker Cram of Caddo Middle Magnet and Brexton Lopez of Captain Shreve High School received honors—and all three will advance to Zone competition.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office hosted a fall party at the First Baptist Church of Blanchard to honor volunteers who provided funeral escorts, attended special events, and contributed over 5,600 volunteer hours. Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. thanked the V.I.P.s for their dedication—calling their service essential to the community.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Louisiana Tech’s offense struggled against Washington State on Saturday night as the Bulldogs were held to 167 total yards and lost 28—3; quarterback Evan Bullock was knocked out of the game in the second quarter. Coach Sonny Cumbie said the team will focus on a home game against Liberty next Saturday to secure bowl eligibility.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Parkway’s Brennan Robin finished second at the LHSAA boys Division I cross country championship Monday at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, recording the second-fastest time at 15:05.70 while Parkway finished fourth in the team standings—Robin said he was disappointed with his early pace that cost him a win.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Tonight, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches will host a free panel discussion and exhibit—honoring the undefeated LSUS Pilots baseball team that finished a 59-0 season and won a national championship. An interview moderated by Roy Lang III starts around 6:30 p.m. after the event begins at 6 p.m.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Three Shreveport-Bossier football teams advanced in Friday's LHSAA playoffs as Parkway, Captain Shreve and BTW each won their games—Parkway hosted Hahnville in Non-Select Division I and Captain Shreve traveled to face Catholic in Select Division I—while teams with byes awaited their matchups.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Saturday, Austin College edged Centenary 16-14 in the fifth-place Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Championship game at War Memorial Stadium — a late 23-yard field goal sealed the win.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Northwestern State football lost 26-21 on Saturday when a pass was intercepted on the goalline, ending their chance to win the game—coach Blaine McCorkle said the loss hurt his team. The Demons will host conference co-champion Stephen F. Austin on Thursday at Turpin Stadium.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
