CULTURE NEWS

  • The Bossier Arts Council invites local shoppers to join the annual East Bank Holiday Market on Dec. 6 from 4-8 pm at the East Bank Cultural District where vendors offer handcrafted items, festive treats, and unique gifts. The event will feature a towering Christmas tree —a festive symbol— and live music from Bossier Schools TAP students —a treat for all ages— to mark the holiday season.  Shreveport's Secrets

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Shreveport Regional Airport advises travelers to arrive at least 90 minutes early during the busy Thanksgiving week as ticket counters close before flights—airlines like Allegiant close their counters 60 minutes before departure, while others close 30 minutes prior. Concession and food options will remain open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.  Shreveport Times

  • Fifteen local high school football athletes are in the Times Week 12 Athlete of the Week poll where fans can vote on the Shreveport Times website until Thursday evening—the winner will earn a prize package from Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and other local sponsors when announced Saturday.  Shreveport Times
  • Playoff week 2 delivered varied outcomes for local and statewide teams as Parkway edged Hahnville 37-31 in overtime and Captain Shreve lost 37-14 to Catholic-BR. Multiple divisions competed with close wins and losses—shaping the path for teams advancing in the state playoffs.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • The Shreveport Times is holding an online vote for the Week 12 non-football High School Athlete of the Week featuring student-athletes from 12 northwest Louisiana schools including Benton, Bossier, Calvary, Shreve, North DeSoto, Evangel, Byrd, Parkway, Loyola, Providence, Haughton, Airline and Ringgold.   • Former Haughton native Dak Prescott became the Cowboys’ all-time leader in passing yards when he threw a 9-yard pass to George Pickens that erased a 21-point deficit and led to a 24-21 win over the Eagles on Sunday at AT&T Stadium—he also extended his NFC East home win streak to 19 games.
