COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Caddo Fire District 4 partnered with the Louisiana Food Bank this week to distribute Thanksgiving meals to 250 residents across Caddo Parish—District 4 thanked Commissioner Ed Lazarus for his support that helped the event run smoothly and strengthen community bonds.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • The Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train will visit Shreveport on Sunday at the CPKC railyard, 4550 North Lakeshore Dr., from 7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. with live performances by Smashmouth and JJ Wilde—though times may change.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire on November 22 at 3:30 a.m. in Bossier Parish killed a 66-year-old man who was rescued by his family - early findings show the home did not have a working smoke alarm.  KTAL

  • G-Unit partitions were spotted at a site where Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson is planning the G-Dome in Shreveport — this sighting signals that construction preparations have advanced.  KSLA

CULTURE NEWS

  • MovieMaker Magazine named Louisiana Film Prize one of 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World for 2025—its unique format requires all films be shot in Louisiana and registration for the 2026 event is now open with a kickoff planned for January.  Shreveport Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gulf Coast region gas prices stayed nearly unchanged for the second week at about $2.60 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday—this rate is 4 cents higher than last month and about 15.1% lower than the national average of $3.06. A year ago, the EIA recorded a 1% higher price at $2.63 per gallon.  Shreveport Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Shreveport announced that temporary lane closures will occur on Kings Highway between I-20 and I-49 from Dec. 8th to Dec. 12th between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to support drainage structure work and ensure safety — drivers should reduce speed, follow signs, and heed flagger instructions.  KSLA

  • Calvary quarterback Hudson Price is named as Shreveport Times Athlete of the Week — he discussed his season performance and goals in the recent interview.  Shreveport Times
  • Calvary's Jacob Tibbett was named Athlete of the Week by the Shreveport Times and explained his role—he protects Hudson Price on the court.  Shreveport Times
  • Parkway quarterback Kaleb Williams threw three touchdowns to help the Panthers overcome a 28-17 deficit and win 37-31 in overtime — a win in the District 1-5A playoffs against Hahnville. Calvary scored 35 unanswered points to rout Metairie Park Country Day 66-30 and move to a 10-1 record.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • LSUS men's soccer advanced to the NAIA Round of 16 by coming back from a two-goal deficit and winning in overtime—secured by Jack Thomas' game-winning goal—earning its first chance to host a national tournament game. They will face unseeded Warner Pacific on Dec. 1 in Orange Beach, Ala.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • Evangel Eagles won their playoff game by defeating St. Paul's 34-14 as running back Kionte’ Mims II ran 104 yards including a 6-yard touchdown—helping the team post 339 rushing yards. The win sent the Eagles to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2019—paving the way for a trip to New Orleans against the Edna Karr Cougars.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
