ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday afternoon, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 100 block of East Topeka Street where a resident rescued his family—including one disabled member—from the flames before firefighters contained the fire in 15 minutes and he was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.  KTBS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Shreveport’s The Grove will host a one-night autograph event on Thursday, December 4 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fans will meet film star Pippi Longstocking and Marvel actor Dr. Hasaan Rasheed — they will sign autographs and take photos during this family-friendly event.  Shreveport's Secrets
  • New public murals are coming to Shreveport to celebrate the city’s history and boost local pride. District 3 Rep. Tammy Phelps secured state funds in 2023 for the project—featuring work by local artist Kadavien Baylor—and the series is set to finish in 2027 with installations on I-49 and Cedar Grove underpass.  KTBS

  • Only two local teams are still in the LHSAA playoffs; North DeSoto — Non-Select Division II and Calvary — Select Division III remain active as other teams have been eliminated. They will compete in upcoming rounds as the tournament continues.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • Last Sunday, the New Orleans Saints lost 21-17 to the Miami Dolphins as a 56-yard field goal by rookie Charlie Smyth and eight catches by Devaughn Vele could not spark a comeback—on the same day, Louisiana football saw big changes with LSU hiring a new head coach, Tulane’s coach accepting a Florida job, and Ole Miss parting ways with Lane Kiffin.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • Shreveport-area playoffs showed Parkway lost 22—28 to Ouachita Parish on Nov. 28 at Preston Crownover Stadium while North DeSoto advanced to the semifinals with a 51—37 win over Franklinton.   • Loyola’s Fatte Ivy won the Shreveport Times Athlete of the Week poll for Week 11 by receiving 8,186 votes — 56% of the 14,536 votes cast. He will be honored with a sports backpack and gift card from event sponsors.  Shreveport Times
