- ➤ The Vampyre Court of Shreveport is teaming with local tattoo artists and businesses to host a winter collection drive that will help community members in need this season. KSLA
- ➤ Operation Santa Claus partners with first responders & local volunteers to deliver toys to children this holiday season, giving families in need a festive surprise. KSLA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rockets Over the Red in downtown Shreveport has been postponed due to inclement weather and is now set for Dec. 20. The free holiday event, featuring a drone light show and fireworks, was originally scheduled for Nov. 27. Shreveport Times
- ➤ William Joyce unveiled A JOYCEful Holiday, a free immersive exhibit at Artspace on Texas St. that pairs his Glitter Kittens, Rocket Puppies, and Santa Calls worlds — the exhibit runs until Dec. 31 and is open weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 5 p.m. KTBS
- ➤ Local artists criticized the Shreveport Regional Arts Council for using AI-generated images in event posters, and the council apologized after a week of calls and messages. It has promised a forum after the holidays to address concerns about AI. Shreveport Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ STARBASE Louisiana at Barksdale Air Force Base honors Coach Warren Saucier for a decade of support that advanced STEM education for thousands in Bossier Parish. The program, which began in 2015, continues to offer hands-on rocket workshops at South Bossier Park for high school students and all parish fifth graders. Shreveport Bossier Journal
- ➤ Richard Nelson, the state revenue secretary who helped reform the tax system, was chosen as the new president of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System and will lead its 12 schools starting Jan. 1. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

- ➤ The Veterans Canteen Service is accepting donations through Dec. 24 to support homeless veterans this holiday season at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, with drop-offs on the second floor at 510 East Stoner Avenue. KSLA
- ➤ Shreveport Police are urging residents to seek shelter as temperatures drop into the 30s and rain is forecast over the coming days (especially for those without stable housing), with several centers now open to provide warmth. Shreveport Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ DeSoto Regional Health in Mansfield will upgrade its facility with a new building and parking lot for $51 million — parts with MRI and pharmacy services will open in May 2026 while full operations begin in October 2026. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ The FDA announced a recall by Great Lakes Cheese Co of over 260,000 cases of shredded cheese sold under private labels at retailers such as Target and Walmart in 31 states (Louisiana is affected) due to potential metal contamination that may cause dental and throat injuries.
