- ➤ On Dec. 3, at 2095 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop + a Circle K store, a buyer won $200,000 with a Bonus Bucks scratch-off ticket from the Louisiana Lottery. The win came with odds of 1 in 262,089.29. The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
- ➤ Apollo Elementary thanked the Tiffany Strong Foundation for matching donations during a recent canned food drive in partnership with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department + the one-to-one match brought the total to $1,000 and boosted local support. Shreveport Bossier Journal
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A proposed data center on Greenwood Road did not win approval from the Metropolitan Planning Commission on Dec. 4 due to a tied 4 to 4 vote. The project promised 150 to 200 permanent jobs but raised concerns (over local utilities and infrastructure) among commissioners and residents. Shreveport Times

- ➤ Alyson Humphrey Smith – a teacher at A.C. Steere Elementary – was named one of 10 finalists for the 2026 GRAMMY Music Educator Award from over 2,000 nominations, announced Dec. 4. The winner will receive $10,000 and a matching grant while all finalists get $1,000 and matching grants. Shreveport Times
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A ribbon-cutting brought attention to the new Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Center Thursday morning in Shreveport, which will open in January. The $20 million center features updated exhibits, five miles of trails, a birds of prey aviary, and 8,000 sqft of event space — a spot for local families. KTBS

- ➤ The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office recognized Victim Assistance Director Leone Fitzgerald for her long service and leadership in growing the program from 2 to 9 staff.
