CULTURE NEWS

  • Holy Angels will host its annual Christmas Pageant on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at its campus on Ellerbe Road, featuring over 150 performers and festive caroling, followed by a Holiday Open House at the adjacent gift shop with shuttle service.  Shreveport's Secrets

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Regional gas prices in the Gulf Coast averaged $2.55 per gallon today, down from $2.64 per gallon last week, according to the EIA+report, and they remain about 14.5% below the national average of $2.98 per gallon.  Shreveport Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Shreveport native Kamrin Hooks joined the Peace Corps in Lesotho to teach math and English, with classes starting in January (training finished in December). She will lead additional clubs, including a running club and an all-girls empowerment club, and plans to return in December 2027.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fromm Family Foods recalled 300 cases of frozen dog food after reports of plastic contamination emerged + the product was sold in pet stores across several states, including Louisiana. No dog illnesses have been reported.  KSLA

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that in September, home sale prices in Caddo Parish dipped nearly 2% from August to a median of $196,000, while single-family homes and condos (with prices falling 1.9% and 51.4% respectively) trended lower as recorded sales edged up from last year.  Shreveport Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sarah Glorioso, the Radiance Technologies I-Bowl chairperson, discussed the upcoming 2025 Independence Bowl matchup between La. Tech and Coastal Carolina.  Shreveport Times
  • The LHSAA football championships will take place from Thursday, Dec. 11 through Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Games in the Non-Select and Select divisions will start at noon, 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. as teams like Haynesville and North DeSoto compete for state titles.  Shreveport Times
  • The Shreveport Times is holding an online vote for Week 14 High School Athlete of the Week featuring 15 non-football nominees from local schools. Voting remains open online through Thursday night, with the winner announced Saturday.  Shreveport Times
  • LSU will play Houston in the Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium on Dec. 27 at 8:15 p.m. CT, and early predictions suggest the Tigers will win if they field their best players.  Shreveport Times
