- ➤ The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is seeking donations during cold weather to support its 24/7 shelter services when temperatures drop dangerously low. Local donors can contribute funds or needed items at 901 McNeil St. KTBS
- ➤ Shreveport Alumnae Chapter & Rho Omega & Friends, Inc. will host the 3rd Annual Cladius Washington, Jr. Toy Giveaway at Bill Cockrell Park Recreation Center on Thursday, Dec. 18. The event will give over 1,000 toys to more than 300 children from disadvantaged communities. KSLA

- ➤ Data centers in Louisiana store and process data for websites, cloud services and streaming, and the state's 23 facilities — including 11 in Shreveport and a new Meta center in Richland Parish — are boosting local economic growth. Shreveport Times

- ➤ I-20 ramp closures in Bossier are scheduled for tree removal to boost safety — Monday’s Westbound Old Minden Road closure is done, and today’s closure for the Westbound or off-ramp at Airline Drive runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with closures planned through Friday as part of a $128 million project. - ➤ On Dec. 8, a ribbon cutting in Blanchard honored the Red River Waterway Commission's funding of an Emergency Response UTV for Caddo Fire District 7 at 1North Adventure Trails (a park with over 7 miles of trails), which will help first responders reach narrow, remote paths faster. - ➤ Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Whitehorn urged Shreveport residents to check on elderly neighbors and visit warming centers at 901 McNeil St, 2350 Levy St, and 520 Olive St from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as cold weather increases hypothermia risk — officials also advised using fuel-burning appliances with proper ventilation. - ➤ LSU basketball teams showed strong play with the women's squad winning 87-61 over Louisiana Tech and the men's team claiming a 89-77 win against SMU at Smoothie King Center. - ➤ North DeSoto won the LHSAA Non-Select Division II state football title Friday, Dec. 12 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans — the Yellow Jackets secured a 50-43 victory after a critical Iowa error helped seal the win as the senior team capped off a record-breaking season.
