  • The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office handed out 102 bags of Christmas hams and side dishes to families in Shreveport and surrounding areas on Monday, Dec. 22 using meal donations from local businesses to help celebrate the holiday.  KSLA

  • Several restaurants opened in the Shreveport-Bossier area in 2025, such as Dripp Donuts and Chicken reopening (3301 Line Ave.) after a hiatus, while Panda Express, Jersey Mike's, Golden Chick, and 7 Brew started new local locations including a fast coffee stand in Bossier City.  Shreveport Times

  • The Southern University System Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to extend Dr. Aubra J.   • Nearly a year after Louisiana repealed the three-year rule, only Foremost Insurance—covering 2% of the market—has canceled fewer than 5% of long-term policies, and homeowners still face rising premiums amid the ongoing insurance crisis.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate
  • The Shreveport Fire Department held a series of hazardous materials and firefighter safety training sessions for its team, including an eight-hour battery emergency course (taught by IAFF instructors) that prepared them for renewable energy hazards in the community.  Shreveport Bossier Journal

  • Willis Knighton offices closed last week because of a water leak are now sharing spaces until their locations reopen—physicians at 2300 Hospital Drive are available today, Quick Care will reopen Saturday, and Work Kare on Dec. 29.  KSLA
  • North Louisiana hunters are urged by the Louisiana Wildlife Federation to have their deer tested for Chronic Wasting Disease during the ongoing season; testing is free and available at 16 sites statewide, including in Minden at 9961 Highway 80 + Monroe at 368 Century Link Drive.  The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate

  • Local prep football star Tony Papa overcame a severe knee injury in 1964 to lead Jesuit to memorable wins during the 1960s—a career marked by swift comebacks, notable plays, and a lasting impact on Shreveport sports.  Shreveport Bossier Journal
  • West won the I-20 All-Star Game 26-17 at Ruston High School’s L.J. (Hoss) Garrett Stadium, with Huntington’s Nate Green earning MVP honors after a 70-yard touchdown catch and interception.
